The service
Ocean Tracking is the official supplier of tracking beacons to the 21 teams that took part in an annual inter-army trail
The beacons were sent to the starting base and distributed to the teams with instructions for use provided by Ocean Tracking
The race lasted about 24 hours.
The GPRS/2G/4G/5G mixed beacon - Iridium SK50 is the beacon that was chosen to equip the teams. This beacon has the particularity
to automatically connect to the GSM network then to Iridium if this network is no longer received, which was the case for a large part of the journey.
Live positioning every minute
Specific mapping for race direction
Installation and testing
- Official distribution of satellite beacons by the race organizer
- Preliminary tests had been carried out in collaboration with the organizers
- 24/7 assistance, especially at the start of the race
- assistance during the race: 24/7
The specificities
The SK50 bailises which connect in 2G/4G/Iridium are entirely dedicated to monitoring "adventurers": By boat - bike - running for reporting positions on the Internet map.
The positioning frequencies of the SK50 beacons are adapted to all phases of the race.
Close to the GSM "antennas", our beacons connect to these networks (multi SIM card in the beacons). As soon as the antennas are too far away, the beacons automatically switch to the Iridium network: no "holes" in position or white zones. The Iridium network is a global network that covers the entire planet.
Mapping: private reserved in this case for the race management - Available on request for demonstration
- Alarm alert button
- Alarm on deviation from the planned route
- Immobilization alert for programmable durations
The back office
The organizer has password access to specific beacon monitoring (battery charge - frequency monitoring)
